Ensure your SMA inverter is powered on and the display (if applicable) is active.
SMA inverters typically broadcast their own Wi-Fi network upon startup.
Look for a Wi-Fi network named something like:
"SMA[SerialNumber]" or "SMA-WLAN..."
Use a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
Go to your Wi-Fi settings and connect to the inverter's Wi-Fi network.
If prompted for a password, it’s usually printed on the side of the inverter or in the user manual (often labeled as “WLAN key”).
Open a web browser and go to:
http://192.168.12.3
This will open the inverter’s local interface.
Use the default credentials unless changed:
User role: Installer or User
Password: Check the inverter label or documentation. For “Installer,” you may need a password from the installer or SMA.
Once logged in:
Go to Settings > Device Configuration > Network Settings
Select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password
Save the settings
The system should connect to the internet within a few minutes.
You can then monitor it via SMA Sunny Portal or SMA Energy App once online.
